The concept is best explained with an example... You need a new roof. You look on this website for a roofing company in your area. Each roofing company listed has offered to make a donation to a charity from the money they receive when hired. You make your decision on who to use based on their rates, experience, favorable testimonials, and what percentage they have agreed to donate to your favorite charity. 

You win, the Contractor wins, the Charity wins, the people receiving benefits from the Charity win, the people whose lives improve because the Charities have created a better society win, and on and on - everybody wins!
